Hilda Oomen & Sharon Thompson

Our autumn exhibit will look at the work of two oil painters and their contrasting approach to still life painting. Kingston artist Sharon Thompson uses bright strokes of colour to break down her objects and shapes. While Belleville artist Hilda Oomen uses sharp contrasts in light and darkness to add a level of rich starkness to her simplified scenes. Each artist portrays the still life in different ways that creates a conversation between contrasting techniques to this age-old style.
